We’re back with another movie character outfit recreation, this time with Penny Lane from the Y2K classic, Almost Famous. Whether you’ve seen the movie or not, I think you’d have to agree with me that Penny’s coat is absolutely iconic, and it’s been one that I’ve been on the hunt for a few years now. I was so pleasantly surprised when I found it available on Unique Vintage’s website - it was absolutely perfect!

Penny styles the coat a few different ways throughout the movie, but I tried to keep it super simple so that I could mix and match with pieces I already had in my closet (I also have a limited selection to choose from, since 75% of my clothes are stuck in boxes). I styled the coat with a white cropped tee and my favorite high waisted wide leg jeans. To accessorize, I wore my favorite gold hoop earrings.

For the photoshoot, I knew I wanted a vintage record shop to serve as the backdrop, and we got super lucky stumbling upon the Glass House Record Store in Downtown Pomona. The person working that day was really nice and let us shoot inside the store and I’m obsessed with these shots that my good friend Lindsey took of me!

I already want to go back one of these days so I can spend more time sifting through all the vintage records. I did walk away with a Backstreet Boys vinyl for their single “Shape Of My Heart” (one of my favorite songs of theirs!) for only $2!
