I really want to lean into more of what I love in 2022, which means fully embracing the eclectic maximalist Y2K style that I’ve been so encapsulated by this past year. I think I’m drawn to how imperfect the fashion was. Although I have to admit that much of it was a trainwreck, separately, some of its defining elements spark a joy and creativity I haven’t felt in a long time.

I’ve been looking to the fashion queens of the early aughts for inspiration, and something about this outfit reminded me of Lindsay Lohan in her classic DCOM, “Get a Clue.” While it wasn’t specifically derived from any of her particular looks in the movie, it just gave me those vibes, you know?

While there’s a lot going on with this outfit, there’s something a little understated about it as well. I absolutely love how the colors and patterns all work together - from the teal mock croc moto jacket, to the green dizzying print top, to the faux patchwork floral midi skirt. I kept the accessories a bit more muted to let the outfit shine, pairing it with my black cabbie hat, strappy heels, and Chanel classic flap bag. For a small pop of color, these magenta acrylic earrings helped bring out the pinks in the skirt perfectly.

What’s something you hope to accomplish in 2022? Let me know in the comments below!
