The Most Instagrammable Coffee Spot in Downtown LA

If this isn’t the most Instagrammable coffee spot in LA, I don’t know what is. As soon as you step through the doors of Matte Black Coffee, it feels like you’ve been immediately transported into a black and white cartoon!

I first found out about this place when I saw that they were hosting a pop-up event in celebration of artist Joshua Vides x Uniqlo’s new Disney line, Monochrome Mickey Mouse, back in November 2021. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it out to the event, but I bookmarked the place in hopes of visiting in the near future. While the Disney fan in me would’ve loved to see the Mickey Mouse overlay, it didn’t take away from all the fun photos we were able to take inside!

Thankfully, it was empty when we were there, so we were able to take our time with our photos. I really thought it was going to be so packed when arrived!

As for the coffee, I was a little bummed they didn’t have an iced chai latte on the menu, but we did end up trying the French Toast & Blueberry Matcha lattes. I loved that the French Toast had a hint of cinnamon, and the Blueberry Matcha was not sweet enough for me personally (but Kevin did ask for it to be less sweet). I would definitely come back to try other drinks on the menu next time I’m in the area!
