Last week I was sliving my best life because I had the unique opportunity of attending the FYC: Paris in Love panel held at the Warner Bros. Studios! If you’ve never heard of an FYC event, it stands for For Your Consideration which is directed towards those who vote for awards in the entertainment industry, i.e. the Emmy’s. I’ve been to a few other FYC events in the past, and these usually consist of a screening of one of the show’s episodes followed by a Q&A with some of the cast and crew.

I actually found out about the event as I was researching about the Warner Bros. Studio Tour and saw that they were giving free tickets to these FYC events on their website! There are still a handful of events that you can attend through mid-June, all you have to do is fill out the form on their website and wait for a confirmation to come through!

We arrived an hour before the event was supposed to start since I wasn’t sure if seating was guaranteed. The confirmation email I received with my tickets mentioned that it was first come, first serve, so I didn’t want to take a chance and miss out! We were one of the first people to arrive and after going through security and checking in, we were brought to a mini exhibit hall where you could check out some photos, props, and replicas of the studio buildings.

There were maybe about 30 of us in line and we were brought into the theatre space about 15 minutes before the event started.

As we walked to the theatre, we saw some international posters of Warner Bros. produced movies and TV shows, like this one for Friends!

Once everyone was seated, it was time for the screening portion of the event! We watched the finale episode of the first season of Paris in Love which gave us an inside look at Paris Hilton and Carter Reum’s whirlwind three-day wedding celebrations!

Afterwards, the guests of honor arrived and we got to listen in on a Q&A panel moderated by Lanae Brody from People Magazine.

While it was great getting to hear Paris and Carter talk about their wedding, what I found the most compelling from the Q&A was when Paris talked about the important work she is doing in Washington DC to stop institutional child abuse. After the event, I went home and watched her 2020 documentary This Is Paris where she talked about her experience at Provo Canyon School and the abuse she endured while she was there. It was absolutely heartbreaking to know this school is still in operation today and I am so proud of all the survivors who have bravely come forward to share their experience and the work they are doing to ensure this doesn’t continue to happen to kids. If you haven’t seen it, I definitely recommend checking it out on YouTube to learn more about it and take action where you can.

It was a nice, low-key event, and while there was no formal “meet and greet,” Paris was kind enough to stay behind and take a few selfies with some of us in the audience after the panel was over. She was the absolute sweetest and I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to meet her!
