Ultraman: Rising Movie Premiere | Netflix

Kevin and I were invited to see a special screening of “Ultraman: Rising” today at the Netflix Tudum Theatre and the movie was so good! I had never heard of Ultraman before, and today I learned that he’s been a beloved superhero in Japanese pop culture for almost 60 years!

We arrived about half an hour before the screening and there was already a long line! Once we made it inside, it was cool seeing this Ultraman helmet replica in the lobby.

The inside of the Netflix Tudum Theatre is so stunning! It felt so magical being inside with the lights on the ceiling - they looked like stars.

Then it was time for the screening! I loved the animation style of this film, and it meant a lot getting to see another beautiful API story come to life, especially one that centers around the value of family.

A quick synopsis of the movie from Netflix: With Tokyo under siege from rising monster attacks, baseball star Ken Sato reluctantly returns home to take on the mantle of Ultraman. But the titanic superhero meets his match when he reluctantly adopts a 35-foot-tall, fire-breathing baby kaiju. Sato must rise above his ego to balance work and parenthood while protecting the baby from forces bent on exploiting her for their own dark plans.

After the screening, we were treated to a Q&A with the directors and some of the crew who worked on the film, including: Shannon Tindle (Director), John Aoshima (Co-Director), Sunmin Inn (Art Director), Hayden Jones (VFX Supervisor), Randy Thom (Sound), Marcos Mateu-Mestre (Production Designer), Lisa Poole (Producer), Tom Knott (Producer).

We then got to attend a reception for the film, and saw the cast arrive on the silver carpet!

I got an opportunity to get my photo taken on the silver carpet as well!

It was so lovely meeting the cast of “Ultraman: Rising”: Christopher Sean who plays Ken Sato, Gedde Watanabe who plays Professor Sato, Julia Harriman who plays Ami Wakita, and Tamlyn Tomita who plays Emiko and Mina!

All the food they served at the reception was so yummy! I thought it was so cute they had ice cream in baseball helmets, just like they do at the Dodger Stadium since Ken Sato is a famous baseball player in the film.

Huge thank you to Netflix and Gold House for having me - we had a great time! Be sure to stream “Ultraman: Rising” on Netflix on June 14!
