The Tortured Poets Department Pop-Up at The Grove | Taylor Swift x Spotify

The intern of The Tortured Poets Department is here and reporting for duty! I got to check out the Taylor Swift x Spotify “The Tortured Poets Department” library installation at The Grove this afternoon, and my friend Thaddeus and I were living our best Swiftie lives! The pop up was a lot smaller than I expected, but it had so many cute photo ops and easter eggs hidden throughout. It was such a full circle moment getting excited for Taylor’s new album in the same place we met her six months ago!

The pop takes place at The Grove (189 The Grove Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90036) and is available to view on April 16, 17, and 18 from 10am-9pm. Please note that entry is first come, first served, and access is not guaranteed. The line does get long so be prepared to wait a while!

I wonder which song these lyrics are from! I read online that the pages get changed every few hours throughout the day.

A lot of the books had song names from the tracklist for TTPD!

Had to snap some selfies with Thaddeus while we were there!

I wonder if the “No 3” on the typewriter is supposed to mean something!

Anyone else as delusional as I am that maybe this is finally the time we get a double album?

For sure the globe is a nod to the song “Florida!!!” but I’m curious what the puzzle pieces mean!

I’m guessing the fountain pen means we’re getting a lot more of these types of songs on this album! In case you didn’t know, Taylor categorizes her lyrics for her songs into three different categories: quill lyrics, fountain pen lyrics, and glitter gel pen lyrics.

Regarding fountain pen lyrics, she stated, "I’d say most of my lyrics fall into this category. Fountain pen style means a modern storyline or references, with a poetic twist. Taking a common phrase and flipping its meaning. Trying to paint a vivid picture of a situation, down to the chipped paint on the door frame and the incense dust on the vinyl shelf. Placing yourself and whoever is listening right there in the room where it all happened. The love, the loss, everything. The songs I categorize in this style sound like confessions scribbled and sealed in an envelope, but too brutally honest to ever send."

At the end of the pop up, we were given these cute bookmarks with the tracklist on them! They reminded me of the old cards we used to check out library books in elementary school.

Huge thank you to Spotify for having me! Be sure to stream Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” on Spotify on April 19!
