The Best Brunch in Marina Del Rey, CA! | Beachside Restaurant & Bar
Disclosure: Beachside Restaurant & Bar hosted me and Kevin for a complimentary meal to try their five-course Chef’s Weekend Brunch. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Over the weekend, Beachside Restaurant & Bar invited me and Kev to check out their five-course Chef’s Weekend Brunch, and let me tell you, for $65 per person this was a steal!
Beachside Restaurant & Bar is located at the Jamaica Bay Inn (14160 Palawan Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292) and is open for the Chef’s Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am-3pm.
This was the best brunch we’ve ever been to - Chef Victor Morales does an amazing job of putting a fresh and colorful twist on classic brunch staples that makes each dish feel elevated and new.
What could be better than having brunch with a view? We loved eating right by the beach and marina!
WELCOME COCKTAIL
Monkey Biz (frozen cocktail) - I don’t normally like whiskey, but this was a frozen coffee liqueur that included peanut butter whiskey, banana, vanilla, and sweetened condensed milk. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by it! The whiskey wasn’t super strong since it was mixed with the different blend of sweet flavors, and it was a great way to start off our meal.
FIRST COURSE
Deviled Eggs - Topped with chorizo, smoked blue cheese, piquillo ketchup, and cilantro, I could’ve easily eaten ten more of these. The chorizo gave the eggs a great burst of flavor, with the blue cheese and ketchup adding a bit of a kick and sweetness to the palate.
SECOND COURSE
Cornbread and Blueberry Pancakes - I’m a sucker for anything cornbread, so having it in pancake form with blueberries was heavenly. I also loved the cinnamon honey butter and vanilla bean maple syrup! This was my favorite course from the entire brunch.
BONUS COURSE - SNEAK PEEK
We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the new melon dishes that are being added to the menu next week! Chef Morales brought out a sweet and savory option for us to try.
The sweet version contained rolled up cantaloupe and honeydew with Greek yogurt and pistachios over a bed of sweet oatmeal. It had a refreshing and balanced flavor to it, and was very filling.
The savory version included sliced cantaloupe and honeydew mixed with prosciutto and topped with fresh pepper. I definitely preferred this over the sweet option, and it was a combination I would’ve never thought of on my own. I loved how light it was as well, especially knowing we still had three full courses to go!
THIRD COURSE - YOUR CHOICE OF TOAST
Avocado Toast or Fig and Ricotta Toast - I chose the Avocado Toast and it did not disappoint! We loved the presentation and how it was full of flavor and texture. The Persian cucumbers, watermelon radish, and pickled red onions gave it an extra oomph that was *chef’s kiss*! Kevin on the other hand got the Fig and Ricotta Toast - I tried a bite and felt that the ricotta cheese’s taste and texture were a bit overpowering, but Kev loved it as well as the fresh figs.
BOOZY BREAK
We didn’t grab a photo of it, but it was mimosa time! We had St. Michele sparkling wine mixed with orange juice and it was a nice bubbly break in between.
FOURTH COURSE
Stone Fruit and Prosciutto Salad - Now this is a salad I can get on board with! I’m not the hugest fan of arugula, but I loved this. I’ve never had stone fruit before but it reminded me of a peach, and with the prosciutto and chili oil, the flavors balanced each other out perfectly.
FIFTH COURSE - YOUR CHOICE OF A SAVORY ENTRÉE
I ordered the French Toast and Chicken Tenders and Kev ordered the Bistec Encebollado and Eggs. My dish was perfectly fine, but by this point I wanted something more on the savory than sweet side. Kevin really liked his dish as well, but thought the sauce was a bit sweeter than he would have normally preferred. We also ordered some fries on the side (not included with the five-course brunch) and although we were so full, it definitely hit the spot!
Some of the other options on the menu for this final course included a Breakfast Sando, Fish n Chips, and a Crab Cake Benny, so there is truly something for everyone.
We couldn’t believe how much food you get for such a great price, and that’s also including the two alcoholic drinks mentioned! The service was great, and the staff members were all so kind and hospitable. Overall our experience was 10/10, and we already can’t wait to come back for another round of yummy food!
