"Stew" Opening Night | Pasadena Playhouse

Disclosure: Pasadena Playhouse provided me with two complimentary tickets to see Stew. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pasadena Playhouse invited me to their opening night of “Stew” last night and I was completely blown away! This brilliant show (written by playwright Zora Howard) has so many layers to it, I’m still thinking and stewing over it! The entire cast (LisaGay Hamilton, Roslyn Ruff, Jasmine Ashanti, and Samantha Miller) was amazing and told the story in such a beautiful and captivating way.

It was lovely running into Camryn Manheim, India de Beaufort, and Richa Moorjani before the show started!

About the show: Mama’s in the kitchen early preparing her famous stew for a big event, but even as her daughters and granddaughter help, she still feels like time is running out. As these three generations of Black women work through the recipe, and their grief, they begin to feel their past and present closing in.

Ticket prices start at $35, and the show is playing Wednesdays through Sundays at the Pasadena Playhouse (39 S El Molino Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101), now through 8/6. (If you are a member of WGA and/or SAG-AFTRA, in a show of solidarity, you can get a pair of free tickets to the show using code “TOGETHER” online and showing your WGA/SAG-AFTRA cards with a photo ID at the box office to pick up your tickets. Please note some restrictions apply and tickets are subject to availability.) The performance length is 90 min, with no intermission.

Parking is located directly across from the theatre in the Playhouse Plaza parking structure (680 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91101) for $5, or there is an ample amount of street parking available close by. I recommend arriving at least 30 min prior to show time!

Huge thank you to Pasadena Playhouse for having me!
