Recreating Taylor Swift's Album Covers
It’s no surprise that I’m a huge Swiftie so I thought it would be fun to recreate Taylor Swift’s iconic album covers! I’m super happy with how they turned out and it’s almost like looking in the mirror! I’ll also be sharing my favorite song(s) from each album.
Lover
Favorite song(s): Death By a Thousand Cuts
This album felt like Taylor’s gift to me and Kev since it was released on our dating anniversary, so this record will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Folklore
Favorite song(s): August, Invisible String
Admittedly, Folklore isn’t one of my top eras, but I would be lying if I said the songs on this album didn’t get me through the really tough beginning of the pandemic. At the time, I was grappling with loss and grief, and this album was healing - it helped me process my emotions and what I was feeling. I’m so drawn to Taylor Swift because I often feel I’m growing up alongside her, and almost always coincidentally, her music reaches me at the time when I need it most.
Evermore
Favorite song(s): Evermore
I recall Taylor calling Evermore the sister album to Folklore, and it truly does feel like a continuation (which is probably why I often confuse which songs are from which album). While Folklore helped me process my grief, I felt like Evermore helped me accept the closure I would never get - but I love that this record left me with a lingering feeling of hopefulness and optimism. It was a reminder that we can get through hard times and the pain doesn’t last forever.
Fearless (Taylor’s Version)
Favorite song(s): Tell Me Why, That’s When (From the Vault)
I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I’m fairly new to the Fearless era (I only knew of “You Belong With Me” and “White Horse” because they were on the radio), and wow I had no idea how much I was missing out! This album has become one of my new favorites, and I love how it really showcases Taylor’s strengths as a songwriter.
Red (Taylor’s Version)
Favorite song(s): All Too Well (10 Minute Version)
The Red album is what turned me into a full-blown Swiftie. I was completely obsessed with all of the songs and the Red tour was our first concert we got to see Taylor perform live! I still remember during the show, she talked about how happiness is fleeting, and something about that touched my heart and made me uncontrollably sob. It took me by surprise, but I think that’s when I really felt a true connection with Taylor.
Midnights
Favorite song(s): Midnight Rain, Maroon, Lavender Haze, Anti-Hero
Midnights is one of my favorite eras and I instantly fell in love with this album when it was released. I think Taylor has always been so vulnerable sharing her music with us, but her candidness talking about depression and self-hatred (feelings ’m unfortunately quite familiar with) really struck a chord with me. The musical composition of this album is so unique to Taylor’s sound, but in my opinion completely works - I love the dreamy vocals and the electro/synth pop elements.
Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)
Favorite song(s): Last Kiss
The Speak Now album made me a fan of Taylor - there was something about “Enchanted” and “Long Live” that was absolutely magical. I also think this was when I started to find it fun to look for easter eggs to figure out who each of her songs were about. While I definitely skipped through much of the album in my younger years to listen to my favorites, now that we have Taylor’s Version, I’ve come to love the album in its entirety.
1989 (Taylor’s Version)
Favorite song(s): Out of the Woods, Is It Over Now? (From the Vault), Now That We Don’t Talk (From the Vault)
This is without a doubt my favorite Taylor Swift era, so we had to go all out in style! I am obsessed with all the vault tracks and I really think Taylor outdid herself with this album!
The Tortured Poets Department
Favorite song(s): But Daddy I Love Him, So High School, Down Bad, Guilty As Sin
I can’t believe we actually got our double album and there is so much to dissect lyrically with this one! From the first listen through, this album jumped to my top three eras, and the more I’ve listened to it throughout the day, it has solidified my decision. I’m still not sure where in my ranking it sits, but I’m obsessed with the dreamy, romantic vibe, and I know it’s weird, but I really love sad songs.
I’m looking forward to recreating the album covers for Debut and Reputation once she releases Taylor’s version! Let me know how I did with the recreations in the comments below!
