The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee | Riverside Community Players

Aimee and I got to see our dear friend Melissa absolutely shine as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre last night at Riverside Community Players’ production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”!

About the show: An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

Ticket prices start at $20 and the show is playing Fridays through Sundays at Riverside Community Players (4026 14th St, Riverside, CA 92501) now through 7/7. The performance length is approximately 2 hours, including one 15 minute intermission. Please note that this show contains adult language and some mature humor.

Self-parking around the theatre can be congested, so it’s best to arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes before showtime to locate parking in the theatre’s lot, streetside on Brockton, or at either of the two nearby hospital parking structures. The lobby opens 30 minutes before the show starts, and due to the nature of the theatre structure, no late seating is allowed once the doors are closed.

Many of you who know Melissa knows that she pours so much love into her work at her local community theatres behind the scenes with makeup, wigs, and assistant directing, and it was such a treat getting to see her perform on stage this time!

We could not be more proud of Melissa, and you have to see her and her wonderful cast mates in this delightfully hysterical show!
